4:45 am. Well, I guess I woke up late again. I rushed my morning routine to keep up with the time. Luckily, my sister and I were able to ride our service on time.
I felt an eerie chill when I sat on the seat. I didn't mind it much since it was always chilly in the morning. It was still dark out so I couldn't see much. We drove off now on the way to school. The road was unusually foggy and that made seeing harder and the atmosphere even more chilly.
We were almost near our school when sunlight finally beamed on us which lit our path and that was when I saw them. My service mates were not themselves at all. Though they looked like themselves, they seemed so lifeless with only the crystal-like whites in their eyes. I tried talking to them but there was no response. All of them seemed harmless so I just waited until we were in school.
Upon arriving, I noticed that the whole place was like in a post-apocalypse. The whole place was dead silent. A nose-crinkling stench filled the air. There was an enormous crack on the ground which halved the basketball court up to the Maliksi building. All the buildings were wrecked. The school was a wasteland. Our service parked in its usual place in the field. The others sluggishly walked to the Guidance Center. Weird. We weren't even late. Still, I followed them to see why.
"VIOLATORS' JUDGEMENT CENTER", the sign in the Guidance Center read. I saw more lifeless students along with a zombie-like Ma'am Malou. She shouted names along with their respective rooms. Woah. Everyone was so lifeless, like zombies. I was about to approach Ma'am Malou when someone grabbed my arm. I looked at his face but there was no face to look at. His face was blurred like the Slender man in the Slender game. Actually, his whole body was blurred, like a ghost. But he wore the male's school uniform, so he must be a student here as well. He then spoke to me, saying that I should not get close to go close to Ma'am or I would become one of them. Well, okay then. I'll trust this specter. Sometimes, you've got no choice but to trust strangers. I asked him why the school became like this but there was no response. I asked him other questions and he still didn't answer any of them. Frustrated, I just kept my mouth shut while I followed him.
The ghost floated into the LRC. But instead of Learning Resource Center, it was the Late Receiving Center. Inside, I saw the tardy zombie students scream their throats out while being whacked with thick books. That certainly hurt. I felt pity for them. The ghost suddenly spoke again. He said not to feel pity for I will slowly turn into one of them. I removed my pity, scared of turning into those lifeless beings.
Canteen 1. That's where the ghost drifted off to. Hmm, ghosts don't get hungry. There I saw a horrifying scene. The variety of food was gnawing on the poor students. Blood and gore splatted everywhere, disembodied hands were grabbing me and heads were still screaming for help. Even the canteen personnel were there and they were the ones who made the students line up for their penalty. "The Overeaters and the Kleptomaniacs", said the ghost. There, I saw some familiar faces, some where my classmates. Tears fell from my eyes and on to the ground. My legs unexpectedly gained a mind of it's own while my whole body followed it. I approached one of my classmates near me but the ghost took my hand again. He gazed at me with his faceless face which he meant not to go close. I felt pity once again for their punishment seemed too harsh. Again, the ghost reminded not to feel pity or I would suffer the consequences.
The Science Lab was his next destination. "The Lethargic", he said. Those who didn't clean in their respective areas were there to be tortured. Violators were trapped inside test tubes, and density projects. Some were frozen as equilibrium projects. Not a sound could be heard in there except for Ma'am Pareja's angry lectures on different values and some science concepts. I suddenly felt a sheer cold bite my feet. It seemed like ice formed at once and I couldn't feel anything in my lower body. I could still walk but my pace became slower. We then continued on.
As soon as I came out of the Science lab, a loud shriek echoed throughout the place which came from the next room, the Biology Lab. There were more carnage there. Students were being opened up and dissected like the frogs from Biology class. The scene almost made me regurgitate. "The Overdue and the Non-passers", the ghost said. They were the ones who didn't pass their requirements or those who passed them late. Again, I thought the punishments was very harsh, even for that violation. I mean, come on, dissecting students alive? The coldness, all if a sudden, went up to my thighs. They felt stiff while I tried to catch up with the drifting ghost.
He stopped in the pathway in the front of the Freshman/Sophomore building. I saw even more familiar faces in there. "The Ignorant and the Unruly", the ghost said. Well, that explains why knew a lot of the violators in those rooms. The different advisers were there and they were all physically enhanced. They looked like demons. All of the violators were nailed to their seats by the demon advisers. Huge, heavy chains restricted them from moving. Their mouths were stapled then were sealed with duct tape. The ghost floated away again, so I followed him.
I heard moans to my right, from the BSP/GSP room. The ghost was still floating when I stopped in front of the building. String, yarn, needles and scraps of cloth from our school and scouting uniform were scattered near the place. The students there, I think, were the ones who didn't follow the dress code of the school. The uniforms they were wearing were sewn onto their skin. The clothes then shrunk until it penetrated their bones. The boys' heads were shaved until their skulls were seen. The sight of them made me sick. The coldness I felt earlier, climbed up to stomach. Where was this frigidness coming from anyway? There wasn't a trace of ice or snow here. The cold was too powerful and I staggered through the pathway.
I lost sight of the ghost. I feebly passed the ruins of the Maliksi building while faintly evading the boiling lava that spewed out of the huge crack on the ground. Then, I saw the ghost was floating stationary in front of the Chemistry Lab. I looked as though as he was staring at something inside the lab. There were huge alcohol lamps and in them were the violators, squeezed like sardines. A demon-like Ma'am Bisa was putting the the lamps on fire, along with the students. "The Defacers", said the ghost. These were the ones who vandalize the school's properties. Now, the coldness was up to my neck. I almost couldn't move. I struggled to catch up with the ghost.
He stopped again in front of the principal's office and then preceded inside. Just when I was about the enter the office, an explosion of debris wiped out the building. A huge monster appeared in front of me and howled loudly that it blew me off of my feet. It wore glasses and a scarf. I assumed it was our principal Ma'am de Vera but was in the form of a chimera. She tore through the buildings, stepping on the students, throwing them around. The ghost which was my only help was nowhere to be found. She chased after me when she saw me running for my life. I ran for the gate, but it became farther with each step that I take. The monster finally caught up and grabbed me. Fifteen feet above the ground, I saw the ghost near the chimera's feet. I screamed help at the top of my lungs but it didn't move. Razor-sharp teeth bit my arm off. Blood, my blood, gushed out of what's left of my arm. Suddenly, the monster stopped. It became frozen in its place and I was able to get out of its grip. I ran out of the gate, never to look back again.
